Mythology.

The origin of quackery in the West is the ancient mythology of the Greeks/Romans, Babylonians/Jews, and Egyptians.

Greek/Roman mythology.

Hermes is the son of Zeus and Maia.
The worship of Mercury (☿) was introduced into Rome in 495 BC when a temple was dedicated to Hermes (Mercury is modeled to the Greek God Hermes). This was on May 15 Julian calendar (the Masonic calendar), corresponding to May 12 Gregorian calendar (the civil calendar). [In a way, the real Date of Mercury has already shifted by now to May 9 Gregorian calendar, the Date of Europe, (301, 201, and 101 BC and 1700, 1800, and 1900 AD ain't leap years in the Gregorian calendar but are in the Julian calendar) or even Walpurgis night (in 1582, the difference between both calendars has been corrected for the time frame 45 BC to 1582 AD with respect to the heliacal setting of Sirius)].

Herakles, protector of Mankind

Herakles (Heracles, Alcaeus, Alcides) is the son of Zeus and Alcmene.
Herakles, representing the awakened human soul, is modeled to the Egyptian God Shu and the Babylonian hero Gilgamesh.

Herakles as a mortal Hero.
His protectors are Hermes (Mercury) and Pallas-Athene; his enemy is Hera [As a baby, Herakles causes the Milky Way - the Milky Way separating the two remnants of the Dead Dog. 'Hercules sickness': epilepsy].

Herakles is cremated alive on Mount Oita and then transformed by Zeus into a full God. He is the divine protector of Mankind, of youths, manumitted slaves, cities, vanquished evil, and the Gate to the Olympus - as well as the Olympic Games [The name 'Herakles' translates as both 'glorious protector' and 'glorous through Hera'. In French, 'Heracles' encodes for 'Keys of Hera'].
His attributes are the club, lion skin, and the knot. He is maried to Hebe (in Rome: Juventas), a daughter of Zeus and Hera, and the Goddess of eternal youth (anti-aging, rejuvenation).

Babylonian/Jewish mythology.
In Babylonia, Mercury is called Nabu (Nebo), Zeus/Jupiter is called Marduk, Maya is called Sarpanit (Erua), and Herakles is called Gilgamesh. The Jewish God Yahweh (YHWH) might in fact be Nabu. [Freemasons want to rebuild the temple of Solomon (build by Hiram Abiff in 953 BC and destroyed in 587 BC by the Babylonians)].

Egyptian mythology.
The triad Osiris (Sah; Orion, merging with the bull Apis, Taurus), Isis (Sothis; Sirius -Sopdet-, merging with the cow Hathor, the Milky Way), and their 'Ever-Coming Son' Horus (Soped; Falk, merging with the Calf) [The Eye of Horus (cured - obscured - by Thoth, the Egyptian Mercury) is a symbol for quackery. The origin of quackery in the West also is the recent mythology of Freemasonry/Theosophy, Gnosis, and Occult Buddhism.

Freemasonry, Theosophy, the Church of Hermes (Hermeticism).
Freemasonry was founded in 1717 in London by John Desaguliers and James Anderson, friends of Freemason Isaac Newton, and satanized in the 19e century by Albert Pike. [The attributes of Freemasonry (set-square and compass) refer to Osiris (crook and flail) and the Theosophy (the Theosophical Society was founded in 1875) of Helena Blavatsky refers to Isis. In Freemasonry, the (all-seeing) Eye of Horus is at the top of a pyramid. Part of the faith is that it is forbidden to display it (it is Hermetic) and therefore Hermeticians/Freemasons refer to symbols only initiates will understand].

Gnosis.

Gnosis is the occult knowledge of an enlightened human being in the early Christian era.

The God of the Old Testament and Hellenistic pagan philosophy was evil. In Gnosis, this evil God is Zeus, not Mercury.

Since Gnosis is hidden knowledge and Jesus proclaimed that he did not teach any secret or hidden knowledge, gnostic Christians, like Cathars, were persecuted by the Catholic Church.

Inquisitors required heretical sympathisers to sew a yellow cross (♱) onto their clothes - yellow being the colour of Mercury.

Occult Buddhism.

In occult Buddhism, Buddha is the enlightened Siddhartha Gautama (son of Suddhodhana and Maya) and Budha is the planet Mercury (son of the Moon (Chandra, Soma) and Tara(ka), believed to be corresponding to Budhavara - Wednesday, the day of Mercury.

According to Blavatsky, Buddha, Budha, and Mercury are identical, refering to a mythical kingdom called Shambhala.

When Helena Blavatsky died in 1891, her successors Annie Besant and Alice Baily continued the Shambhala myth - and so did Friedrich Nietzsche and the Nazi party. [The occult teacher of Adolf Hitler, Dietrich Eckart, introduced Hitler in 1919 to the Thule Gesellschaft^<link> and the study of occult Buddhism - and was acknowledged for doing so in Mein Kampf - also explaining why Blavatsky was Hitler's favourite author].

Annie Besant refered to a link between a White Lodge and Shambhala - and Alice Bailey and her Lucis Trust identified this lodge in the Sirius System. In fact, 'meditation' is communicating with the White Lodge on Sirius.
